Having brought her own computer skills up to date by attending computer classes at the Lindisfarne Centre last year the Headteacher of Rock Hall School, Lalage Bosanquet wanted her staff to benefit from an opportunity to further develop
their IT knowledge and become confident to use these skills in their teaching.
The staff who took up the challenge were not only members of the teaching fraternity, key administrative staff were keen to
ensure the school could benefit from using IT packages to support communication and record keeping at Rock.
The dedication and commitment of the staff who have spent one night a week after work with Dave Hobson or Sarah Frizzell, getting to know a wide range of computer software packages, cannot be under estimated. Imagine finishing the school day at 4pm, rushing home to turn yourself round to be at class by 6pm and then getting back again after 9pm with work to mark, lessons to prepare!
It's a good job that they all found the classes really relevant to their need and the flexible style of tuition perfect for their busy lifestyle.
The British Computer Society audited our Equalskills, ECDL level 2 and ECDL Advanced courses again this year.
They found the high standards set in previous years had been maintained and awarded us our 4th 'A' grade for the provision at the Lindisfarne Centre. The team of tutors delivering our courses work hard to ensure the success of every student. If you have struggled with this qualification on line or as a distance learner come and join one of our classes because we have a proven track record. This year we are thrilled to have Jenny Trapp rejoining the IT team and we will be benefiting from her experience managing the IT NOW learning centre at Marlow.
Last year Dave Hobson was able to support employees at a local Estate Agent with some targeted sessions in the work place. If your staff could do with some help in preparing presentations, developing database or spreadsheets, or just a helping hand in File Management, just give us a call and Dave will come to your premises to discuss your specific requirements. The support will be charged at an hourly rate to reflect the level of assistance required between £25 & £50.
