Catherine’s determination to achieve an A Level Art qualification to reflect her ability is at last within sight.
She is seen here preparing a spectacular forest scene in acrylics as part of her Controlled A Level art examination.
Unfortunately her first attempt at school (more than a few years ago) led to a disappointing result due to the absence of her tutor through illness in the run up to the final examination.
Undeterred Catherine has continued to improve her skills and enjoy painting in a variety of media at adult art classes in learning centres around the county.
In September 2005 she signed up for an AS Fine Art course at King Edward VI High School in Morpeth. Half way through the course she was devastated to hear that there were only two members of her group interested in continuing to A2 to complete the full
A Level and the Art class at Morpeth
would not be running.
The flexibility of adult learning in Alnwick came to her rescue.
Our highly esteemed art tutor, Fiona White, encouraged Catherine to work alongside our enthusiastic group of artists who had achieved outstanding grades at GCSE in Summer 2006. They were just about to start on their AS Fine Art course and Fiona was sure she could include Catherine in the class. This mixed ability group has worked well and Catherine’s work will be assessed during Summer 2007.
Well done Catherine for not giving up and for producing some excellent art work during your year at the Alnwick class.
